Adam's Castle Stripped away of all music pretensions and barriers, Detroit’s own Adam’s Castle has been known as a source of new, refreshing music for the past 3 years. Having been previously involved in punk rock and metal projects, Sami Jano (piano) and Zach Eichenhorn (drums) began writing original music together in 1999. Eric Adams (bass) joined shortly after and with the completion of the trio came the birth of their sound, a new birth of music. Adam’s Castle’s sound, described as “post-apocalyptic, moody, instrumental, soul,” arrived with great effort and fun in collaboration. With the aggression of Zach’s drumming and Sami’s percussive approach to piano, it created a gentle yet disturbed, rocking sound. Throwing in bass lines that soothe and excite at the same time only added to the draw. With a self-titled EP released on DataFeedback Recordings in 2001, Adam’s Castle toured the US with enthusiastic response. Their full-length album, One Year, was recorded at Greene Street Recordings by Rod Hui (James Brown, Philip Glass, A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, etc.) and was released in November, 2002 on DataFeedback Recordings. Adam’s Castle’s popularity has spread throughout Michigan and their audience has grown exponentially. Their live sets have become more and more outrageous. With well over one 150 successful shows under their belt, Adam’s Castle has found it easy to fit on any bill, be it rock, metal, jazz, bluegrass or electronic. Among the many diverse artists Adam’s Castle have played with include Absinthe Blind, The Detachment Kit, Calliope, DMS, The Mercury Program and Wesley Willis.
