Gary Jibilian-NS/Stickist "Gary's a high energy, two-handed groove machine." -Greg Howard, Stick Virtuoso for Dave Mathews BandGary Jibilian plays the NS/Stick, an eight string tapping instrument made by Emmett Chapman, creator of the Stick (Tony Levin). This instrument allows the playing of both melody, and rhythm lines simultaneously, and with the use of live sound-on-sound looping, Jibilian's Duo sounds like a full band. Gary is accompanied by a drummer on most live shows.Last year, Jibilian released his debut cd, "Galaxy Rodeo," and have opened for Bill Bruford's Earthworks, CAB (Dennis Chambers, Bunny Brunel, Tony MacAlpine, Brian Auger), both at The Magic Bag in Ferndale, MI, and the California Guitar Trio at The Ark in Ann Arbor, MI. The crowd response at each show was incredible, and numerous people told Gary that they were "Blown away by your performance."This year, Gary has been signed with a booking agent (Stage9Productions) for the national US college scene, and has been nominated for three Detroit Music Awards in the World Music category for Outstanding Recording ("Galaxy Rodeo"), Outstanding Instrumentalist (NS/Stick), and Outstanding Songwriter.
